Clwydian Staffords South Africa

Welcome to the Clwydian Staffordshire Bull Terrier web site

Welcome to my web page. My name is Lorraine Valentine and as you have probably guessed by now, I am the owner and breeder of the dogs you are about to meet here.
Myself and my husband Dave emigrated to South Africa from North Wales in 1982, and this is where we acquired our first Staffordshire Bull Terrier, little did we know then that that is would not be our last!

I got involved with showing, after I seen an advertisement in a local paper, for a dog show, so I went along to see what it was all about. I found the Terrier ring and that is where the bug bit, I decided to try my hand at it, I was given help by alot of 'Stafford people' and after a couple of months of training Jess to stand still for long enough, I entered my first show, Jess was placed 3rd in the Puppy Class, I was so happy! So that was it we travelled to alot of Open shows and did quite well, then when Jess reached the age of 2 years I bred my first litter, lets go and meet Duke, he is the male we kept from that litter.

Here is 'Duke' (Clwydian Intruder), Duke is now 7 years of age, and is Dave's shadow. We kept him from Jess's first litter, he was sired by CH Pitwar The Great Pretender.
Duke never took to the show ring from day 1, so he was never really shown much. He is the sire of my other male Stafford who you will see a bit further on. As you can see he loves to have a mud bath, and just loves to run around the local dam, chasing the ducks!

This was Jess (Mareponca Thanica) she was our first ever Stafford. Jess was the mother of two of my other Staffords, and the grandmother of my fourth Stafford, who you will be meeting in a short while.
She still acted like a puppy some days, and loved to tear around the garden with a ball, but most of the time she just liked to curl up on the bed and sleep!
Unfortunately we lost Jess to 'Biliary' and she is going to be sorely missed, she will always have a very special place in our hearts.

Let's meet 'Meg' (Clwydian Mystic Megan). Meg was born in Jess's second litter, and was sired by CH Bellajani Red Ace, and was nearly 7 years old when we sadly lost her.  She held 4 CC points.  Meg had a lovely nature, but detested anything that flew or crawled!!
She had a knack of catching pigeons and taking them to her box, or the nearest bush and devouring them!!
Duke and Meg were the best of friends until the day she died, we lost her to Pyometra, and hopefully now Meg and Jess are together, causing havoc!!!  We miss you Meg .

scud

This is CH Clwydian Rough Justice, otherwise known as 'Scud'. Scud is now 4 years old and is the baby of the family, he is the biggest softie as well! Scud loves nothing more than to be with me everywhere I go and gets quite upset if I leave him at home by himself!
Scud has the most loveable nature, and loves to play with the children any time of the day....or night!
Around the show ring he is very 'vocal' and does not like to be left in his show cage, he would rather see what is going on inside the ring!
Scud will hopefully be used at stud next year to one of my other bitches, who stays with friends of ours, from which I hope to get another addition to the family!!!
Like all Stafford people when you have had one Stafford in the family, you can't stop at one we tried but it never worked.
